How is the Bone Suckin' Yaki Gluten Free if the ingredients list wheat?
Yes, our Bone Suckin' Yaki is Gluten Free. We have had all our products tested by the Elisa Technologies, for gluten. All of our sauces came back at less than 5ppm (5 parts per million) including the Yaki. There is no definite standard by the FDA for what makes something gluten free in the U.S. at this time. However, the current/Who codex equates 100 - 200ppm, is considered safe for Celiacs. So the Yaki is well below the Current Codes. The FDA is in the process of making a rule to change to 20 micrograms of gluten per gram of food to call something gluten-free. Our Products, which are less than 5ppm, are well below that.
We do not want to mislead our customers, though. If you are extremely sensitive to wheat, we suggest you not use our Bone Suckin' Yaki. Some good news that we just received from Columbia University is that they are recommending our products for their Celiac patients to use. In fact, their book "The New Ultimate Guide to Gluten-Free Living" lists all our products as safe for Celiac patients (including the Yaki). Their website is www.celiacdiseasecenter.org. We look forward to the day when the FDA gives us clear standards to follow. If you have any furthers questions, please let us know. Thank you so much for your interest in our products.
